What Is Form 1099-NEC?


This form is used by the IRS to report non-employee compensation. If you are a U.S.-based individual and earn $600 or more during the tax year from a company, you will be issued a Form 1099-NEC.

W-9 and W-8 Forms (U.S. Only)

2.1 Overview

  • The W-9 form  is used by U.S. persons (citizens or residents) to provide their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) for income reporting purposes.

  • The W-8 form is used by non-U.S. individuals or entities to declare foreign tax residency and claim treaty benefits that may reduce or eliminate U.S. withholding tax.

If you are a U.S.-based influencer, you are generally required to complete and submit a W-9 Form.
