How to Schedule and Post on Instagram with Influencity

Learn how to efficiently manage and publish your Instagram content using Influencity

Supported Instagram Formats

You can schedule and post any format on Instagram through Influencity. However, the posting process differs depending on whether you have a professional business or creator account.


Instagram's API allows a maximum of 50 posts per 24 hours, including feed posts, reels, or stories.

 

Important: Instagram only supports the Reels format for videos through its API, so all videos scheduled via Influencity will be posted as Reels.

Auto-Publishing

Influencity allows you to schedule and auto-publish content to your Instagram professional business or creator account. 

Exceptions

  • Creator account stories must be posted manually via notification.
  • Stories with links or stickers are also not supported for auto-publishing and require manual posting.

Requirements

Images and videos (up to 15 minutes) must meet certain specifications for successful auto-publishing.  Check the specifications below:

Images

  • Format: JPEG or PNG
  •  Size: up to 8 MB
  • Aspect ratio: between 4:5 and 1.91:1
  • Minimum width: 320 pixels (scaled to minimum if necessary).
  • Maximum width: 1440 pixels (scaled down to the maximum if necessary).
  •  Height: Varies, depending on width and aspect ratio.
  • Image size:
    •  Maximum Columns (horizontal pixels): 1920
    •  Minimum aspect ratio [cols / rows]: 4 / 5
    •  Maximum aspect ratio [cols / rows]: 16 / 9

Reels

  • Size : up to 500 MB
  • Duration: from 3 seconds up to 15 minutes
  • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
  • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
  • Video codec: H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
  • Audio bit rate: 128kbps
  • Video bit rate: VBR, 25Mbps max.
  • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS. - Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.
  • Video size:
    •  Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920
    •  Aspect ratio: 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank spaces.

Stories

Story Image Specifications

  • Format: JPEG
  • File size: 8 MB maximum.
  • Aspect ratio: We recommended 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space
  • Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will have their color spaces converted to sRGB

Story Video Specifications

  • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
  • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
  • Video codec: H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
  • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.
  • Picture size:
    • Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920Picture size:
    • Required aspect ratio is between 0.1:1 and 10:1 but we recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space
    • Video bitrate: VBR, 25Mbps maximum
    • Audio bitrate: 128kbps
    • Duration: 60 seconds maximum, 3 seconds minimum
    • File size: 100MB maximum

Note: Videos in carousels should not exceed 60 seconds in length.

 

When scheduling a post, make sure you select either "Feed Post", "Reels", or "Stories" and ensure that the auto-publish button is enabled.

Instagram Presets


  • Show Reel on Feed: Choose whether to display your reel on the feed.
  • Add Collaborators: Add up to 3 collaborators for the post. Collaborators must validate the post, and both accounts will be credited as authors. (This option is unavailable for stories.)
  • Boost This Post: Promote your post for increased reach. 

Multimedia Options

Click the three dots on the attachment to access multimedia options:

  • Edit Video/Image: Edit your multimedia content directly.
  • Tag People: Tag public Instagram accounts (not available for stories).
  • Tag Products: Tag products in your Instagram posts. 
  • Upload Video Thumbnail: Import a cover image for your video.
  • Select Cover: Choose a specific frame from your video to use as the cover.
  • Tag Audio: Edit the audio name for Reels (it defaults to "Original Audio" unless changed).

Note: To add trending music to Reels, you must either edit the video with the music before uploading or disable the auto-publish option and publish the post manually.

Manual Posting

Manual posting via notifications is required in the following cases:

  • Stories on creator accounts.
  • Stories with links, mentions, or stickers.
  • Videos with trending music on Instagram.
  • Any post that does not meet the auto-publishing requirements.

When scheduling, ensure the auto-publish option is toggled off for these posts. Notifications can be sent via email or mobile device (recommended). At the scheduled time, you'll receive a notification, and clicking it will:

  • Download the media to your device.
  • Copy the caption to your clipboard.
  • Redirect you to the Instagram app for manual posting.
